Mother's Day is coming soon.
On that day, moms in a lot of homes will have the day off.
Dad and the kids do the chores and cook the meals, or better yet, go out for a nice dinner.
Sadly, that's not the case for many single moms.
For them, Mother's Day is just another day.
But a ministry in Virginia Beach is seeing that they too are honored on their special day.
They give mom's a fancy meal, day care for their little ones and a message of hope.
"For many single moms, it's a lonely depressing day, said Danett Crawford. "I wanted to change that."
Crawford is a single mom who understands their struggles.
"The hardest thing I ever did was be a single mom," she said.
Crawford's "Joy Ministries" hosts a banquet for single moms every year.
Hundreds of women are bussed in from across the city.
Mothers who are divorced, widowed or whose husbands are on military deployment all attend.
The goal is to make them feel special and to honor their service as mothers, as well as to remind them that they may be single, but they are not alone.
