CHICAGO - The new pastor of Barack Obama's Chicago church is asking congregants to pray for the Democratic presidential candidate and the congregation's former head pastor the Reverend Jeremiah Wright.
The Reverend Otis Moss III says Trinity United Church of Christ has been wounded during the controversy surrounding the two men.
A church spokeswoman says congregants have been in a period of fasting since early March during what Moss describes as a "challenging time."
Sunday, Moss told congregants to respond to the controversy with prayer and love.
Wright has been on sabbatical and officially steps down May 31st.
