CBNNews.com - TEHERAN - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad marked Israel's 60th anniversary by calling the Jewish state a "stinking corpse" that will soon disappear.

"Those who think they can revive the stinking corpse of the usurping and fake Israeli regime by throwing a birthday part are seriously mistaken," Ahmadinejad said to IRNA, Iran's official news agency.

"The very existence of the Zionist entity is questioned. It is headed for annihilation," said the Islamic Republic's congenial leader.

"[Israel] has reached the end, like a dead rat, after being slapped by the Lebanese," Ahmadinejad said, referring to the Second Lebanon War against Hezbollah terrorists in the summer of 2006.

Meanwhile, Israel moved up its projection of Iran's ability to build a nuclear warhead to mid-2009.

According to a senior Iranian official, the country has mastered the technical challenges it faced to be able to produce enough enriched uranium to build a nuclear bomb.

Last week in Washington, Israeli Transportation Minister Shaul Mofaz told US officials that Iran would be ready to enrich uranium for a nuclear bomb within a year.
