CA Clerk Takes Heat for Marriage Decision

CBNNews.com - A California County clerk's decision to suspend all marriages at her courthouse brought criticism Tuesday night from advocates of same-sex marriage.
However, supporters of Kern County Clerk Ann Barnett say that most of the county residents are against California's gay marriage ruling and say that homosexuals are "definitely in the minority."
"I support the county clerk 100 percent, " Kern County resident Cary Brown said, adding that legalizing gay marriage is the start of a slippery slope.
The debate surfaced after Barnett's June 5 decision which followed a California Supreme Court ruling.
The high court stated that not allowing gays to marry would violate their constitutional right.
Supporters of the ruling are now calling for Barnett's removal by the county's Board of Supervisors.
In a meeting Tuesday with the board, one man called the clerk a "religious terrorist" and urged her to resign. Some county officials also disapproved of her decision.
So far, the county has not announced how it will handle Barnett's actions, or if will take steps towards refusing same-sex marriages.
The California Supreme Court announced last week that gay marriages can begin in the state June 17.
