Conservative Anglicans Blame Liberals for Divisions

JERUSALEM - Archbishop Peter Jensen says this week's gathering of Anglican conservatives is a response to divisions caused by the U.S. Episcopal Church's consecration of a gay bishop and the Anglican Church of Canada's blessing of same-sex relationships.
Jensen, the Anglican Archbishop of Sydney, Australia, helped organize the Global Anglican Future Conference in Jerusalem. It's being held one month before the once-a-decade Lambeth Conference of Anglican leaders called by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
Many African and other conservative bishops attending this week's conference plan to boycott Lambeth.
Jensen says since the majority of Anglicans are now African and theologically conservative, there's less loyalty to the Archbishop of Canterbury, Anglicanism's spiritual leader.
