Hamas: Prisoner Swap Victory for Hezbollah

CBNNews.com - GAZA STRIP - Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum lauded the prisoner exchange deal with Israel a "victory" for the Lebanese-based Hezbollah terror group.
"This is an achievement for the will and steadfastness of the Lebanese resistance," Barhoum said. "This also proves that rights can only be restored by force," he said.
But other Hamas and Fatah officials were disappointed that Hezbollah spiritual leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah because he didn't push harder for the release of Palestinian prisoners.
"This is a very bad deal as far as the Palestinians are concerned," one Fatah official said. "Hassan Nasrallah has betrayed the Palestinians by signing a separate deal with Israel," he said.
A Hamas official said the deal proves that Nasrallah isn't genuinely concerned about Palestinians.
"Nasrallah has shown that he does not really care about the Palestinians. There is no doubt he could have gotten much more from Israel in return for the two soldiers [Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser], but we don't understand why he chose to act this way," he said.
According to the Palestinian Media Watch (PMW), the Palestinian Authority (PA) considers convicted murdered Samir Kuntar, being released as part of the prisoner swap, a "hero" and an "ideal" prisoner.
"On the one hand, Kuntar embodies what the PA considers the 'heroism' of terrorists fighting in Israel," wrote the PMW in their latest bulletin.
"On the other hand, he's the ultimate symbol of all terrorist prisoners who have murdered Israelis and will eventually be freed as a result of future kidnappings or through some other means," the report read.
PMW pointed out that Palestinian Authority television, under the auspices of PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas's government, broadcast a picture of Kuntar standing next to a map of Israel fully covered over with the Palestinian flag.
