Christian Couple Arrested for Converting

It happened in June in the capital city of Tehran.

Security officials arrested Tina Rad and her husband Makan Arya. They are currently out on bail.

The two converted from Islam to Christianity three months ago.

Now they are charged with 'activities against Islam and national security' for reading the Bible with Muslims in their home.

Compass Direct News reports that officers beat the couple and threatened to file apostasy charges against them, which could mean a death sentence.

Pastor's 'Harsh Sentence' Over Ammunition Shortened

A U.S. pastor who has spent the last four months in a Russian jail will be coming home soon.

Phillip Miles had been sentenced to three years in prison for smuggling one box of hunting ammunition into Russia.

The South Carolina pastor said the rifle cartridges were for a friend and that he didn't know it was illegal.

The U.S.Embassy intervened, saying the sentence was too harsh.

A Russian court agreed to release him and suspend the rest of his sentence.
