CBNNews.com - WASHINGTON - A recent poll showed that Israel is no longer a priority for American Jews, especially during the election year.
The survey was conducted by Jim Gerstein, a political strategist, for J STREET, an organization that describes itself as the political arm of the pro-Israel, pro-peace movement.
According to Gerstein, poll results proved that American Jewry holds an overall liberal position on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The US economy is the most important issue for 65 percent of respondents.
The second biggest concern is Iraq, followed by medical insurance, terror and national security, energy and environmental issues.
Only 8 percent of those surveyed believe Israel should be at the top of the presidential election's agenda.
Other concerns were illegal immigration, health insurance for the elderly, taxes, separation of religion and state, and education.
