NORFOLK, Neb. - An order of Roman Catholic nuns plans a 15 million-dollar renovation to turn its convent in Norfolk, Nebraska, into an interfaith spirituality center.
The Missionary Benedictine Sisters will fund the conversion with 27.5 million dollars they've been offered to divest their share in Faith Regional Health Services.
The nuns' prioress, Sister Kevin Hermsen, says the new spirituality center "will be a place for classes, programs and workshops for people of all faiths."
Sister Hermsen says the nuns also plan to give 10 million dollars to a charitable foundation and put the rest of the money in the Missionary Benedictine Sisters retirement fund.
