Former Crimson Tide coach Gene Stallings and his son John Mark were guests on The 700 Club in 1997.

According to the family, the younger Stallings was born with Down syndrome and suffered from health problems related to a congenital heart defect.

But he was a beloved member of the University of Alabama football program, and had accompanied his dad to almost every practice and game.

John Mark Stallings died early Saturday at age 46.
