The Olympic torch is winding its way through Beijing, just two days before the start of the summer games.
The three-day relay will include more than 800 torchbearers and it marks one of the final steps in China's seven years of preparation for the games.
Meanwhile, police detained four pro-Tibetan activists after they unfurled banners in front of the national stadium.
One banner read ,"One World, One Dream, Free Tibet."
Three American Christians were also released from Chinese police custody, Wednesday.
They had been arrested for protesting in Tiananmen Square with a banner that read, "Jesus Christ is King."
