CBNNews.com - NORTHERN SINAI - On Thursday, Egyptian border police discovered 20 smuggling tunnels used primarily to transport fuel to the Gaza Strip.
According to a senior official in Cairo, police confiscated thousands of gallons of fuel and arrested four smugglers after a fierce firefight that injured three of the smugglers and one policeman.
Early in the week, border guards uncovered eight new smuggling tunnels north of the Rafah border crossing, which separates Gaza from the Egyptian Sinai.
In another incident near the border with Israel, Egyptian police opened fire at several suspected smugglers, who fled the scene, leaving behind 1,000 pounds of hashish in large sacks.
