CBNNews.com - JERUSALEM, Israel - Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni helped arrange for an Israeli identity card for the daughter of former Palestinian Authority (PA) Prime Minister Ahmed Qureia.

Qureia leads the Palestinian delegation that has been conducting low-profile meetings with the Israeli delegation, headed by Livni, aimed at negotiating terms for the establishment of a Palestinian state.

Qureia's daughter, Mona, is married to an Israeli Arab living in east Jerusalem.

Palestinians married to Israeli Arabs do not automatically qualify for Israeli citizenship under Israel's Family Reunification Law. In the past, Palestinians wanting an Israeli identify card used marriage to qualify.

While the Interior Ministry issues the identity card, which entitles the holder to national health insurance, among other benefits, and also allows free movement throughout Israel, Livni's role sped up the process for the PA negotiator's daughter.

Though Israeli Arabs holding a blue identity card may travel anywhere in the country, Israelis are forbidden to enter PA-controlled cities and towns.
