Russia Takes Captives, NATO Unhappy

CBNNews.com - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is in Europe for an emergency meeting of the NATO powers. At the top of the agenda -- how to handle Russia.
The international community says Russian troops must live up to its vows and remove its troops from the country of Georgia.
''Time for Russia to keep to its word," Secretary Rice said. "This alliance is not going to permit a new line to be drawn in Europe.''
Russia has responded -- they're withdrawing a small group of tanks and armored vehicles from the city of Gori.
However, Russian soldiers took about 20 Georgians in military uniform prisoner at a key Black Sea port in western Georgia.
The prisoners were blindfolded and held at gunpoint. Russian soldiers also commandeered American Humvees awaiting shipment back to the United States.
It happened the same day the two countries exchanged prisoners captured during their brief war.
One Russian minister says he doesn't know how long it will take for all the force to leave Georgia.
NATO officials say that they won't be able to conduct "business as usual" with Russian troops still in Georgia and they also say that they're open to having Georgia join its alliance.
