CBNNNews.com - JERUSALEM, Israel - Syria has been testing its missiles over the past several months, according to a report on Channel 2, based on recently released data by Israel's military censor.

According to the report, Syria has about 1,000 Scud missiles in its inventory, which would be used primarily to supplement smaller, more accurate rockets.

While the majority of Syria's long-range missiles are designed like Scuds, the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) is more concerned about the medium- and shorter-range rockets.

Another concern is its development of chemical and biological warheads to arm its missiles.

According to the report, Syria has been patterning its exercises after the Iranian-trained Hezbollah terror group in Lebanon, which fired 4,000 rockets at Israel during the Second Lebanon War in the summer of 2006.

Syria's long-range missiles can cover between 300 and 700 kilometers (from 200 to 435 miles), which puts all of Israel within range.
