Sen. John McCain has been floating around a list of vice presidential candidates, but his choices are drawing criticism from some conservatives.
McCain stunned the religious right two weeks ago after saying he'd be open picking a pro-choice running mate.
As an example, he said former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge is an excellent leader.
McCain is also reported to be "seriously considering" Joe Lieberman. That notion has outraged conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh.
"What is this about picking a liberal Democrat or a liberal Republican?" he asked. If the McCain camp does that, they will have effectively destroyed the Republican party and pushed the conservative movement into the bleachers."
Fox News is reporting that the Republican National Committee has put the brakes on the "Tom Ridge for Vice President" talk. But they've made no mention of axing Joe Lieberman.
In fact, they've announced that the Connecticut senator will be speaking at the upcoming convention.
