"He has the foreign policy experience that [Democratic candidate Barack] Obama doesn't have," he said.

McCain's choice of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate has created more enthusiasm among evangelicals. They identify strongly with her pro-life, pro-family values.

"When it comes to Israel, most evangelicals see the issues as pretty black and white," said worship leader Chuck King.

"Evangelicals are nervous about Barack Obama on several levels, but it comes down to, 'Who is this guy and who does he represent?'" he said.

David Parsons, media director for the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem agreed that Christians living in Israel "tend to be more supportive of McCain."

"Having lived in Israel for over a decade and understanding the country's security needs, I think McCain is a much stronger candidate for Israel," said Parsons.
