Operation Blessing Helping Ike Victims

CBNNews.com - Disaster relief organization Operation Blessing International is in Texas to deliver much-needed supplies to victims affected by Hurricane Ike.

OBI is working with local emergency management to set up an operations center to help clean out flooded houses, tarp roofs, in addition to serving meals.

The relief team is expect to hand out more than 33,000 pounds nonperishable food and ready-to-eat meals to evacuees. OBI's mobile kitchen will also be on site and is equipped to feed 2,000 people a day.

OBI trucks are in route to Beaumont, Texas, and are scheduled to arrive Monday to deliver disaster relief supplies to the community. Their base of operations will be at the Cathedral in the Pines Church.

Disaster relief supplies are also coming from St. Bernard Parish, La., where the team was helping victims of Hurricane Gustav.
