WASHINGTON - In January, Jill Stanek was one of six people honored at the annual Life Prizes awards in Washington, D.C.

Some $600,000 is divvied up between the winners who were recognized for their efforts to protect the "sanctity of human life through public advocacy, scientific research, outreach."

Dr. Donna Harrison, Richard Doerflinger, Kay Coles James, Peggy Hartshorm and Lila Rose were also awarded one of the coveted Life Prize awards.

More than 1,200 people attended the event which was held at the National Building Museum.
