CBN Founding Member Dies

CBNNews.com -- Harald Bredesen, a long-time friend of Dr. Pat Robertson and a founding board member of the Christian Broadcasting Network, passed away Friday. He was 88.

Bredesen was a Lutheran pastor who was greatly credited with inspiring and influencing the charismatic movement.

His insight, wisdom and connection to God helped Dr. Pat Robertson and others create the Christian Broadcast Network.

Bredesen was also involved with the creation of the Trinity Broadcasting Network and 100 Huntly Street in Canada. Additionally, he was the founder and chairman of The Prince of Peace Foundation.

“Harald Bredesen served on the CBN Board of Directors since its beginning, constantly giving us wise counsel and unique spiritual insights,” said Dr. Robertson. “He served the Lord in a global ministry leading many into the fullness of the Holy Spirit and set an example for us all in his boldness and perpetual joy. He was a dear friend and beloved brother in Christ. Dede and I will miss him greatly. His family is in our prayers.”

Bredesen fell downstairs at his home, fracturing his skull, Tuesday, Dec. 26. He was rushed to the hospital where doctors determined he had severe bleeding in the brain.

His website reports for a short time, despite his condition, he regained consciousness and was able to praise the Lord and visit with family and friends.

Unfortunately, his condition worsened, and he passed away peacefully.

Regarding response to Bredesen's death, the family stated on his website that it "cherishes you and appreciates your continued prayers."
