Actor Takes up Role as Lobbyist

CBNNews.com- Oscar nomininated actor Gary Sinise has taken up a new role, as lobbyist for the nation's first memorial to disabled American veterans.

At the National Press Club today, Sinise is spokesman of the group planning to build the memorial near the U.S. capitol.

The star of the T.V. Drama CSI: New York is best known for his portrayal of Lieutenant Dan Taylor, the Vietnam War veteran in the movie Forrest Gump.

Nearly one third of America's 26 million living veterans has suffered a permanent disability.

Sinise said, "Freedom is so precious, and those who are willing to protect it and sacrifice for it deserve our highest praise and thanks.They don't have to do this work, and I'm grateful that we have people like them who want to volunteer their time to defend this great nation in military service."
