TIFFANY'S WEDDING TIPS

Most Important Dress You’ll Ever Wear

Well ladies it can definitely be overwhelming planning a wedding with all the small details that go along with that. But looking for your wedding dress is the most exciting part of planning by far. Most little girls dream of what their wedding dress will look like and even play dress up with their little princess outfits or ballet tutu’s. But it’s not until you try on that first wedding dress that it hits you that this is not a dream but in fact a reality. For me especially, it was a very emotional experience, to walk out and see my mom in tears. It’s a wonderful and joyous event and one that should not be rushed or done hastily. The minute you have that ring on your hand, I encourage you to start looking and even visit a bridal salon or two to figure out what style of dress you might want for your special day.

The possibilities are endless as I learned in my experience at Tiffany’s by Maya bridal shop in Norfolk, Virginia. There I met up with Maya Warburton, owner and fashionista with a background working for Versace’ and Vera Wang. I was full of questions and Maya was very knowledgeable and helpful in helping me decide on what kind of dress I was looking for. We had a blast!

The first question on most brides’ mind is where do you start? There are so many styles, cuts and colors out there that it can be a bit overwhelming. But never fear ladies, that’s where the bridal consultants come in. If they know their stuff like Maya does, then you are in good hands. This is your time to be waited on and pampered too so take advantage of it and have a good time. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Maya gives some tips on how to begin. She says that a good sales consultant will get an idea or sense of what her event will be like. Is it a formal evening wedding, an outdoor beach wedding, or a theme style-wedding etc? Based on the information the consultant receives she can start pulling the dresses that are most compatible to what the bride’s event will entail.

Another good tip Maya gave me was don’t be afraid to try on something that you normally would never have picked out or imagined for your special day. You won’t know until you try it on. I know I was pleasantly surprised at a few dresses I tried on that I never imagined would look good. The bridal world is really moving forward in fashion. One of the trends your going to see in bridal, especially in wedding dresses in the next coming season is a lot of color. So not only has it migrated in the bridesmaid’s world but also in bridal we’re really moving away from some of the white and the ivories. So in this season you’re going to see dresses in blush, vibrant pink, gold, and platinum. Here is a picture of me in a platinum dress. Isn’t it exquisite? And look at that necklace. Another big trend you are going to see is jewelry everywhere. On tiaras, necklace’s, veils, hair jewelry, etc. It’s not just pearls anymore. The sky is the limit!

So ladies, just remember that looking for a wedding dress is a process and it takes time. Don’t get frustrated. And don’t forget to keep an open mind. You may end up with a dress that you would have never chosen for yourself. You really want to leave yourself time mainly because it takes anywhere from 6-9 months for a wedding dress to come in. And brides need to remember there is an alteration process. Alterations take time. On average they are going to go through three fittings. And depending on the dress, something very intricate or a woman’s body type it could mean 5 fittings that they go through. So remember to practice patience and take a lot of time when it comes to the dress because it’s really going to be the focal point for your special day.
