Jesus said: “…when you give to the least of these, you give to me.” May God richly bless you and return to you the hope and love you have so generously given others. From grateful hearts around the world and here at home: “Thank God that you were there…”

CBN.com There are a few children in this world that can charm the socks off you. Misha and Alina are two of them.

Misha, the curious one, loves to learn, and Alina’s darling personality shines brighter than the morning sun on a spring day.

But nothing could prepare me for their story -- not one of happy memories, but a tale filled with darkness and pain.

Misha and Alina are just two of the thousands of children who are a product of a nation bound by alcoholism. In Ukraine the employment rate is so low and the despair so high, people give up and turn to alcohol to dull the pain of hopelessness. Children live alone and beg in the streets -- old enough to know that their parents can’t take care of them, but too young to know how to seek help…like Misha and Alina.

“When we didn’t have money or food, we would beg on the streets,” says Misha. “And our mother would catch us often and take away the money and then beat us up”.

Tired of his mother’s drunken beatings, Misha took his sister’s hand and walked out of their home. He was six; Alina was three. They lived on the streets for a year and half. Two nameless children amongst thousands of homeless, destined to live that way forever.

But there are people in Ukraine that are helping to break that cycle and doing it by loving one kid at a time.

Father’s House is a ministry that CBN WorldReach and Operation Blessing support. Street children are brought here and integrated into a home environment.

Sometimes it’s as simple as having a pet to care for that penetrates the hearts of these “street wise” children. Eventually they allow themselves to be loved. It is here where Misha and Alina have found a home. They now have a foster mother and father to love them, and teach them that Jesus can heal their pain.

One couple lives with about 10 children and to creates a foster family. The number one priority is Jesus Christ and that means heading off to church every week.

At the helm is Pastor Ron Korneeko who started father’s house!

He says, “People turned away from Jesus, but then God took Christ and made Him the main reason for all humanity. In the same way, everyone turned these kids away -- parents, the government, the churches. No one wants to see dirty, hungry kids. Everybody wanted them out of their sight. But God brings them here and makes something beautiful out of them!”

Priority number two is teamwork. If you can imagine 12 people living in your house, then you can understand its importance! Another priority is school right here at Father’s House, ensuring a good education!

Pastor Korneeko says his ministry would not have survived if it had not been for CBN WorldReach.

“We came to a dead end and didn’t know how we would continue. We were praying for a breakthrough. CBN was that breakthrough,” he says. “They brought teaching to Father’s House. They helped us financially, did seminars, and taught us to see things in a new light. Since then we’ve done so many projects together! It’s a spiritual connection. It’s a joint ministry for the glory of God. We are honored to be a part of CBN.”

Alina is now safe in the arms of a foster mother. Misha no longer shoulders the load of his small family.

By the way, we got a nice surprise when we visited! We learned a couple in California is adopting Misha and Alina! They are now preparing for their new lives in America.

It’s commitment… It’s love… It’s faith that God can do the impossible — that’s helping CBN WorldReach change lives through Father’s House.
