CBN.com – Sandro Luna had received the maximum sentence in El Salvador for his crimes—34 years. He’d killed the man who had killed his father. But this one act of revenge had not satisfied his appetite for vengeance.
“I was still full of hatred and bitterness and my heart was full of evil,” Sandro confessed.
His rage continued in prison, so he was moved to a small cell in solitary confinement.
“All I could think about was how I wanted to escape and get back at my other enemies,” he said.
But something changed in that small cell after Sandro received a visit from an old friend.
“She told me about Jesus and shared words from the Bible with me,” Sandro said. “She told me God would forgive me, if I would ask Him.”
Sandro gave his life to Jesus that day; and the change in him began immediately.
“I said to the Lord, ‘Take away my bitterness; take control of my life,’” he recounted.
The Lord answered Sandro’s prayers, and soon he was moved from solitary to the general prison. That’s where he met some prayer counselors from CBN’s 700 Club Center in El Salvador.
“The people from The 700 Club brought us teaching from the Bible, and teaching from Pat Robertson’s book The Secret Kingdom,” he said. “Through that book, I learned about the law of reciprocity, that what you plant is what you will harvest.”
Sandro began practicing those teachings in prison and found he had something to give to his fellow inmates.
“Now God has called me to the ministry of evangelism,” he smiled. “My desire now is to win souls for Christ right here in prison, to harvest a good crop by planting God’s Word. And I learned this from The Secret Kingdom.”
Thanks to the investment of CBN prayer counselors and books like The Secret Kingdom, which is used for Bible studies, more than 650 prisoners have come to faith in Jesus Christ and are growing in their relationship with Him.
