This summer, CBN Europe partnered with Mission Possible and hosted summer camps for the children of Bathore in Albania. Most of the people live in poor conditions and greatly appreciate this annual summer mission. They call it “Miracle Camp.” For one child, 11-year-old Alban, a miracle was exactly what he and his siblings needed after the unexpected death of their father six weeks before camp. Below is Alban’s description of the moment he heard about his father and his camp experience – a testimony worth reading!
Alban’s Prose:
“That afternoon I was playing not far from my house when I noticed several of the neighbors gathering, and though at a certain distance, I could hear them mentioning the name of my father. Though I am little, I could understand that something bad had happened. My feet were not obeying me in the short distance till the house. My heart began to beat very rapidly. I was so afraid, so scared. I had heard something that had to do with my family, but my heart found it hard to accept and my ears had refused to listen to this piece of very sad news. My Dad had died - had died in an accident while working.
After that happening, I began to read and learn more about God. He became like a good friend to me, but I felt I wanted to know Him closer.
And one day we were told that my brother, my sister and I were invited to the Hope Center to join The Miracle Camp.
This camp was like a gift sent from God. I could hardly wait for the day to dawn. The dusty roads of our neighborhood roared with joyful voices for the echo of the camp had spread all over. The sound of some beautiful songs led our way to the Hope Center.
In The Bible Session we learned a new verse and a new message each day. The kids from the Miracle Clubs knew a lot of the Bible verses and they could hardly wait to memorize them out loud. It was with these new friends of mine that I learned how to pray and thank God for every beautiful thing He had offered me during those days and for everything He gives us during our lifetime.
The session that all of us enjoyed most was when we learned “Jumping in the House of God”. And we did really jump as high as we could go in the House of God under the beautiful rhythm which became the theme of each day! It was immeasurable pleasure and fun! There were only happy faces and beautiful smiles around - exactly what we usually miss when at home, for our parents or older brothers and sisters seem to carry big burdens on their shoulders while trying to provide for the family.
The last day was very different from all the previous ones. It was a picnic. We all went by bus to a nice green park on the hills of the capital. And to put a beautiful end to it all, there were the prize awards for the Young Talents’ Competition. I too had become part of this competition. I had never thought I would be reciting my poems in front of an audience. I was overwhelmed with emotions!
As one of the winners, I received a very cute teddy bear. But in truth, in this camp, we all were winners as each of us received a very precious gift: THE BLESSING OF THE LORD!
As we are leaving, I can only say that it has been: The Most Beautiful Experience of My Life.
In closing, on behalf of all the kids who were part of this camp, I would love to thank God for each one of you who helped, in many different ways, to make this camp: A MIRACLE FOR THE CHILDREN OF BATHORE.
With lots and lots of love,
Alban & all my new friends of the Miracle Club"
