CBN.com – PERU - Imagine a family of five people living in a house that is six-feet by six-feet square. Well that’s where the Sajamis have lived for the past four years. But the family says being crammed together wasn’t their biggest problem.
Milagros, the mother of this growing family spoke to CBN’s 700 Club about their condition.
“I couldn’t stand my children suffering when it rained and everything got wet. Everything turned to mud. Sometimes my children would get sick and their small bodies would ache,” she said.
Elmer, the father, runs a small water delivery service and makes about $4 a day.
“We felt desperate,” he said. “We just didn’t have any money to build a better house.”
When asked about the impact of their living conditions on his family, Elmer got emotional.
“I don’t want to remember that… please,” he said through his tears.
“I would pray to God the Lord, ‘You know the condition we are in. Please help us,’” Milagros said.
She told her neighbor about their prayers; and that neighbor told them about Operation Blessing. CBN works in partnership with Operation Blessing as they coordinate efforts to reach people who need help.
Soon a volunteer construction team arrived from Operation Blessing with all the materials needed to build the family a new home - one that was a lot bigger than the six by six-foot square house that they had been renting before.
“I thank Operation Blessing for giving us this beautiful house,” Elmer said with joy.
“Thanks Operation Blessing for giving me the house of my dreams,” Milagros added.
