INDONESIA - With dedication in their hearts and a strong hope to meet the medical needs of the Seasea people on Banggai Island, six Operation Blessing doctors began a long journey. One five-hour plane ride and a four-hour boat ride later they arrived at the tiny Indonesian island surrounded by the Banda and Molucca Seas above Australia.
People on the remote island excitedly welcomed the Operation Blessing team. The doctors provided free services to 4,132 patients. Treatment included dental work such as cleanings, and medical check-ups for gastritis, dermatitis, respiratory inflammation, headaches, and other disorders.
Patients and their families asked the team to come back at least twice a year to help them out. Although Banggai Island is a natural paradise, it’s mostly rural, and many people there live in poverty; they cannot even afford the government provided pay-as-you-go medical clinic. Plus, getting any kind of free medical help is rare for them. When the people thanked the Operation Blessing team for treating them, they made sure to tell the doctors what a difference their help made.
Operation Blessing partnered with SCTV for the medical mission. SCTV is one of Indonesia’s largest national television stations. It broadcasts Solusi, Indonesia’s version of The 700 Club. The relationship built on CBN’s quality TV programming and the respected humanitarian outreach of Operation Blessing, led to this opportunity for CBN to reach out to the people of Banggai.
Operation Blessing teams willingly travel to even remote areas of Indonesia to help people in need. When you give to CBN you are helping to provide medical treatment and other necessities to those in need. If you are not yet involved, please join us.
