Sharing the Love of Jesus with Hugs and Prayer

INDONESIA - In a playground for vacationers with tourist resorts, beautiful beaches, and stunning landscape there’s a desperate need among the children in many villages. In effort to help, CBN recently sponsored a ministry event called “Share Love,” and invited Indonesian partners to participate. They visited the Taruna-Cipayung Orphanage in Jakarta to share the love of Jesus.
“This moment is a rare opportunity, where in the middle of my business activity I have to give away something of value, which is time for sharing care.” CBN Partner Tonny Soetjoadi says. “I am very happy being able to serve them, to see these children being happy and enthusiastic.”
The partners arrived with arms full of hugs and loaded with gifts for the children that included goodies as well as basic necessities such as food, milk, and toiletries.
“The children in this orphanage are extraordinary!” CBN Partner, Alda Silaen says. “I felt very touched being able to place my hands on them and pray for them directly.”
During the worship most of the children closed their eyes, and raised their hands singing to Jesus with all their hearts. CBN partners then prayed for them, and for their country of more than 228-million. The series of 17,000 islands are prone to natural disasters, and regularly experience political turmoil. While some children lose their families to tragedy, parents of others give them to orphanages hoping they will be educated and a have better chance at life. Government leaders estimate there are about 5.4 million abandoned children in the country
“They are surely stronger and more independent compared to me with all the facility that I have. Everyone’s future is in their own hands, not dependent on their background.” Michecll Kusnadi says.
The dormitory at the Taruna-Cipayung Orphanage can accommodate 150 orphans, at the same time staff members provide primary and secondary level schooling in another building. The CBN partners stressed the importance of education to the children.
“In this school they are also taught about character building. I am grateful for being invited for this visit. If this event is held monthly I will be available.” Silaen says.
At the Share Love event partners ate lunch with the youngsters who clearly touched their hearts too because they began feeding the children by hand.
“Perhaps during all this time they have not had the attention of parents to feed them, but hopefully our visit has comforted them,” CBN partner, Rusdiana Kusnadi says.
“This is the ‘first time’ that I again spoon fed a child, because all of my children have grown up to be adults. Really it made me remember the time that I took care of my young children,” Soetjoadi says. “Hopefully this day was a special day for all of them.”
One of the biggest messages of the event the partners related to the children is that God will always be with them.
