CBN work began in Laos in 2001, when CBN children's programs were translated into the Lao Language for weekly broadcast over the Lao National Television Network during evening prime time. In 2001, Lao National TV (LNTV) station started broadcasting CBN children’s programs in the Laotian language on Saturday evening and Sunday morning. These programs include Spunky’s Knock Knock Show and the Cambodian production of Super Kids Club (SKC). In late 2002, Spunky’s First Christmas and two other Spunky’s Episodes were distributed on VCD to needy children. A total of 1,000 VCD’s have been given away in Vientiane and the villages.

In July 2003, the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs granted CBN Singapore an operation permit to conduct humanitarian programs in Laos, starting with Medical Missions and Living Water bore well projects. With the increase in humanitarian programs and activities over the last few years, CBN applied for and received official approval for NGO status in Laos. Under the name Operation Blessing, CBN Laos provides assistance to Laos and has major ongoing humanitarian projects are located in Savannakhet and Vientiane Provinces.

A major focus of humanitarian efforts is the Sanitary Healthy Model Village (SHMV) project. The first village project was completed with strong approval and commendation from the Governor’s Office. This project complements the Living Water Well and Cistern program by targeting hygiene and other health improvements. The SHMV projects provide each family a latrine, regular health education, six-monthly de-worming procedures, and special assistance to very needy families. Villagers are taught how to grow vegetable gardens and dispose of waste properly. The result is significant improvement in health and quality of life.
