Explosion Could Have Caused EgyptAir Crash

Human remains from the crash site of EgyptAir Flight 804 suggest the plane may have been brought down by an onboard explosion.

A senior Egyptian forensics official says 80 fragments of human remains have been recovered. The small fragments point to an explosion inside the plane.

"There isn't even a whole body part, like an arm or a head. The only logical explanation is that it was an explosion," he said, adding that he cannot say what caused the blast.

All 66 passengers on the flight from Paris to Cairo were killed when the plane crashed into the Mediterranean Sea early Thursday morning.

Greek aviation authorities suspected something was wrong when air traffic controllers were unable to hand over the flight data to their Egyptian counterparts.

They say the pilot did not respond to their calls before completely disappearing from the radar.
