Boko Haram's Terror: The Bullet Can't Beat the Gospel

Boko Haram opened fire on a group of Christians leaving church, slaughtering defenseless innocents. But despite constant violence, the gospel is spreading in the darkest of places.

Eight Nigerian Christians were leaving church this Sunday and every single one of them were gunned down by Boko Haram terrorists.

This is a sad reality and a familiar story for many of Nigeria's Christians.

"They're causing all kinds of terror and it's incredibly difficult. In fact, there are so many communities in northern Nigeria that Christians have 100 percent evacuated just because they are literally targeted and murdered on site as they're identified," said Greg Kelley from World Mission.

Boko Haram is the deadliest terror organization on the globe, with a higher death count than Al Qaeda and ISIS. Their violence is forcing millions of people to becomes refugees in Nigeria and the surrounding area.

But many of Boko Haram's fighters are not causing mayhem without hearing the gospel too.

"Literally, as Christians are fleeing, the people we work with are leaning into and going into those very places and sharing the Gospel with these terrorists, essentially," explains Kelley.

One of the ways World Mission is bringing in the gospel is through audio Bibles.

"People are gathering around, Muslims gathering around in small groups listening to the Word of God," Kelley says.

He asks that Christians around the world pray that the light of the gospel continues to penetrate the dark cloud of terror in Nigeria.

"We need people to pray. We need to pray that as Boko Haram has caused chaos, that the Lord uses it in some way for us to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with people who have never heard before."
