Candace Cameron Bure is leaving her host chair at The View.

Bure announced her departure from the ABC daytime talk show at the start of the program Thursday.

She told the live audience, "It's a little bittersweet today because I'm announcing that I will be leaving."

The departure comes after less than two seasons. She joined the hosting team in 2015 while filming the first season of the Full House sequel for Netflix. ABC renewed her contract with The View this year and Fuller House was also picked up for a second season.

The wife and mother of three noted that her work schedule has become increasingly difficult for her and her family. Her show commitments on The View demanded she travel between New York City and Los Angeles on a regular basis.

"Before I started The View, I had already had my commitments to Fuller House and my work with the Hallmark Channel," Bure told the crowd.

"Because of the success of those, my commitments have become even greater with those shows."

Bure expressed sincere gratitude to all of her co-hosts on the show.

Fighting back tearful moments, Bure said, "I thank everybody -- Whoopi , Joy -- for welcoming me to this table. I've learned so much from you and I'm so grateful for you."

The View's executive producer Candi Carter issued a statement in response to Bure's departure.

It read, "On behalf of everyone at 'The View,' it's been a pleasure working with Candace, a devoted mother, talented actress, and passionate co-host who never hesitated to speak her mind."
