Love & The Outcome: 'Hands Up, Worries Down'

If you're like me, when you hear the latest hit single by the Christian duo, Love & The Outcome, it's hard to stop singing it:

And Then I Threw My Hands Up
Worries Down
I Remember When He Showed Me How
To Break Up With My Doubt...

"The God I Know" is currently in the Top 15 on the Billboard and Mediabase Christian Audience charts. I caught up with one half of the vocals on that song -- singer/songwriter Jodi King.

"It's refreshing really to just finally admit that I don't have it all together," King said. "There's a line in 'The God I Know' that says, 'If it was all about perfection, I'd never make it,' and... I'm living that moment right now in my life so faith is just... it's a day to day dependence on the Lord, and that's where I'm at right now."

King and her husband, bass player/songwriter Chris Rademaker -- the other half of Love & The Outcome -- are in a celebratory season right now, a season that led them to title their newly released sophomore album, "These Are the Days."

"I think I was about nine months pregnant, and Chris and I, my husband were walking up and down our street, the street right in front of our brand new house, and we were just celebrating the season of life we were in, just all of these new gifts that God's really poured into and the way He's provided," King shared.

"We've really experienced Him as a Father who provides, and we were really just saying, 'Thank you, Lord. Thank you for these days,'" she continued.

"These Are the Days" is one of 13 tracks on the album with the same name. King hopes listeners take away 'good news.'

"We really wanted to have the music reflect the celebration of this season and the celebration of the good news of the Gospel and the fact that even if you're in a terrible day and you're not experiencing the joy of the Lord, as soon as you worship Him, it really puts worshipping on top of your worry," she shared.

"And so these songs are meant to be an anthem of praise -- the whole record's really meant to be just that, a worship offering that helps take a fan in a good season to a moment of really celebrating even more, and someone who's barely making it through -- hopefully through these songs and these promises, it takes them over their problems and kind of turns them into praise and helps sort of remind them of who God is," she explained.

King shared how her faith in Jesus Christ motivates her every day, and even in a time of celebration, holds her together.

"Basically, I'm a mess most days. I'm a brand-new mom, and I didn't even realize how writing a phrase like 'hands up, worries down' was going to be something that I really needed to sing for myself to remind me that God's got me," she said.

"My little son, Milo -- he's seven months old, and he's just in the phase of reaching his arms up toward me or towards Chris when he really needs something," she continued.

"And it's just such a beautiful visual for me because I need to do that more," she added. "I'm doing it now more than I ever have to be honest with you 'cause parenting in public and on a tour bus with a brand-new baby, living our marriage in front of people, it's just a really new season of life, and we are learning on the fly."

"So right now faith has become very day to day; I can't think really very far ahead of where I am right now, and I think it's actually a huge blessing in disguise," King continued. "I'm depending on the Lord more than I ever have; I'm saying, 'Holy Spirit, can you guide me? Lord, can you help me? Father I need you more than I ever have.'"

King and Rademaker are very busy these days. In addition to the full-time job of parenting, they're performing on multiple tours in the next few months, including Sadie Robertson's Live Original Tour, Jeremy Camp's fall tour, and Newsong's Very Merry Christmas Tour.

Through it all, King remembers the importance of letting people know about the God she knows.

"And there's just this verse that I came across this morning, and it just says that our gifts are not for us; they're meant to save many souls," she shared. "And I'm just really encouraged by that. That's why we do what we do."

"And we always encourage fans when they come to our shows -- our name, Love & The Outcome -- it's not just for us; it's for everybody," she continued.

"It's a story of God being love, and us being the outcome of that love, and to me, that's what motivates us to do what we do," she said. "And I hope it encourages our fans to go out and live the love that God gives them."
