JERUSALEM, Israel – JERUSALEM, Israel – The Palestinian Authority’s promise to international donors that it would stop paying salaries of convicted terrorists came to light in a recent report by the Palestinian Media Watch (PMW).  The promise turned out to be fallacious.

In 2014, P.A. President Mahmoud Abbas agreed to stop using international aid to pay the "salaries" of prisoners serving time in Israeli jails. In essence, he vowed the money would come from non-P.A. sources.

According to the report, Abbas resolved the situation by closing the P.A.'s Ministry of Prisoners' Affairs and creating a new commission under the PLO to assume responsibility for prisoners' welfare. It then increased its allocation to the PLO to cover the salaries, with a 10 percent bonus.

While the PMW's detailed investigation exposed the scam, its effect on the $1 billion in annual international aid is unknown.

Meanwhile in Ramallah, where the P.A. government is headquartered, thousands participated in a rally over the weekend hosted by Hizb ut-Tahrir, an Islamic terror group working to establish an Islamic caliphate, Arutz Sheva reported.

Speakers at the rally called on Jordan, Egypt and Pakistan to attack Israel, free "Palestine" and unite under a global caliphate. Like ISIS, the goal is worldwide Islamic domination, which they believe will usher in peace to all peoples.

Under the banner, "Tent of Believers: the Caliphate through the Path of the Prophet and the Tent of Hypocrites, Heretics and Imperialists," the group also called for the liberation of the al-Aksa Mosque, which stands on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem's Old City.
