CBN's David Brody: Media Gave Trump a Gift, Mueller Report Is Cherry on Top of the 'Fake News Sundae'

CBN News Chief Political Analyst David Brody says the establishment news media is in mourning across the country over the Mueller Report. But even though Trump has been cleared by the special counsel, the Democrats aren't giving up on their anti-Trump investigations.

Brody warns though that American voters aren't stupid, and they can see through unfair treatment, pointing out that the Mueller report of "no collusion" will make them doubt the Democrats' credibility in 2020.

"They're not stupid when it comes to being street smart. They understand the deal here. Look the 'No collusion, no collusion, no collusion' - that's what Trump has been saying all this time. That was the big enchilada, and the big enchilada became nada. Nothing. It's over. And folks realize that," he says.

So will the Democrats decide to refocus their fight on the 2020 election, or continue to ramp up costly investigations against the president? Brody says this is a time for the party to reconsider its strategy.

"Democrats have a choice. When do they want to stop digging the grave? It really is that simple. Do they want to spend their time, their platform, their energy, their focus, their power in the House on the 2020 agenda and try to beat Donald Trump at the ballot box, or do they want to go down the investigative road?" Brody says.

He calls House Oversight Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-MD), House Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), and House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) "the new Special Counsel" who will continue the investigations now that Robert Mueller has cleared President Trump.

"If Robert Mueller the nonpartisan guy, supposedly... and if he couldn't find anything, do the American people really think the Democrats are gonna be fair in this process? Well of course not," he says.

In the end, Brody says the years of constant harping about the Mueller report prior to its release may be about to backfire.

"I think this Mueller report and 'no collusion' is gonna hurt Democrats at the ballot box because moderates and independents in the middle will see this and say, 'Hmm, you know what? Trump was right all along.' The media has done Donald Trump a huge, wonderful service. They have given his 'fake news' mantra credibility, and 'no collusion,' this report, is the cherry on top of the 'fake news sundae'."
