Historic floods that ripped through Louisiana have left tens of thousands homeless and first responders overwhelmed.

For Baltimore Raven's Benjamin Watson, the powerful floods that killed 13 people and left thousands suddenly homeless were just too much too ignore.

"It's been weighing very heavily on us with everything that's going on down there," he told ESPN.

Watson stepped in to help provide hope and warm meals to those who were working on the ground to provide relief. He partnered with Chick-fil-A and sent some 400 sandwiches to first responders who helping Louisiana residents pick up the pieces.

"It's a little something but it's all we can do," Watson told ESPN. "The biggest thing we can do is make sure people know it's a huge problem and people are suffering. I hate to see people suffer."

Although Watson regrets not being on the ground to help, he still believes in the power of prayer.

"I would love to be there as much as I could. I love to be there for a day to encourage people and be hands on there and help as much as I could," Watson said in a statement.

"Being this far away, the biggest thing we can do is pray for them, write notes of encouragement on social media, and increase awareness for the Red Cross, Salvation Army, and United Way of Southeast Louisiana."
