Liberty University's President Jerry Falwell recently hired Baylor University's former athletic director, Ian McCaw, to head their athletic department.

The media and different news outlets called out President Falwell's choice as being questionable, due to the recent allegations against McCaw during his time leading Baylor's athletic program.

McCaw is reported to have been placed on probation at Baylor after multiple reports of sexual assault by football players.

Baylor University has accused him of inadequately responding to the sexual assault that occurred in 2012, where a student accused five football players of sexual abuse.

Despite the recent media buzz Falwell told the Washington Post he does not care how much "heat" he takes for making the decision to hire McCaw.

"When I find somebody I think merits my support," he said. "I don't care how much heat I take. I just do it."

Liberty University says they fully vetted McCaw with a law firm before hiring him and that those who are charging him are not able to provide evidence of any wrongdoing.

McCaw says that his move to Liberty could be a reason from God, "I'm not sure why God led me here," he said. "Maybe it's to prevent something from happening in the future," he added.

Falwell says that McCaw's "success really speaks for itself."

"You look at what Baylor was able to do during his tenure, it fits perfectly with where we see our sports programs going. This is an exciting time for us," Falwell added.

As for McCaw, he has big dreams for the school's sports teams, stating that he wants future college athletes to dream of attending Liberty.

"Liberty to me represents a pinnacle of professional and personal opportunity where we're going to be able to develop champions for Christ, develop a world-class student athlete experience, and achieve victory with integrity. We certainly want Christian student athletes to grow up dreaming of competing for Liberty University," McCaw said.
