An Abeline, Texas Lowes has two new employees: a disabled veteran and his fury, four-legged companion.

Clay Luthy served in the U.S. Air Force for years, but an injured knee left him looking for a job that wouldn't mind his service dog tagging along.

"I was trying to figure out where I could go that would be a good fit and it wouldn't mind having Charlotte, and my wife said I was at Lowes so much anyway, I might as well get a job there," he told USA Today.

So Luthy and his 10-year-old yellow lab named Charlotte went to the job interview at the home improvement store and got hired.

Jay Fellers, the Lowes human resources manager, said the decision was a no-brainer.

"They were the best person for the job," he said. "So, we went through the interview process and Clay on his own merit won the job. And we knew he was gonna make a great employee – we just got the benefit of getting Charlotte right along with him."

The pair sparked a social media frenzy with thousands saluting the veteran and his service dog online.

Luthy says he was not expecting all the social media attention, but he believes the true star is Charlotte.

"I found a way to have a productive life and my prescription is four-legged," he said.
