A man with a concealed weapon stopped a shooting rampage at a South Carolina nightclub this week.

Shots erupted at Playoffz nightclub early Sunday morning after 32-year-old Jody Ray Thompson pulled out a gun after a getting into a fight with another person.

WISTV.com reports that Thompson fired several shots into a crowd outside the nightclub.

"His rounds struck three victims, and almost struck a fourth victim, who in self-defense, pulled out his own weapon and fried, striking Thompson in the leg," Lt. Kevin Bobo said in a statement.

The man who shot Thompson had a concealed carry license and will not face any charges. Many say the nightclub shooting would have been much more bloody had the concealed carrier not fired back in self defense. None of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries.

Thompson was charged with four counts of attempted murder, unlawful carrying of a weapon, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
