First it was #GiveElsaAGirlfriend; now it's #GiveCaptainAmericaABoyfriend.

We're talking about Twitter campaigns this month, calling for Disney's "Frozen" heroine and the Marvel superhero to be homosexual.

Comic fan Jess Salerno created the Captain America hashtag.

"I feel like it sucks that people in the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community don't get the representation that they deserve, and it would be so amazing for something like Captain America or Marvel to be able to portray that," the student and fan of Marvel films told Metro UK.

Seventeen-year-old Alexis Isabel Moncada launched the Elsa Twitter campaign.

"I hope Disney makes Elsa a lesbian princess imagine how iconic that would be," she tweeted.

Will Disney and Marvel comply?

Townhall's Christine Rousselle writes, "Given that Disney reportedly recently finished the script for the film and recording is to begin shortly, it's unlikely that the movie will include this plot line."

"I think it's great," Idina Menzel, the voice of Elsa, told Entertainment Tonight at the Billboard Music Awards. "Disney's just gotta contend with that. I'll let them figure that out."

The creator of several Marvel characters, Stan Lee, also weighed in on homosexual superheroes:

"I think the world has a place for gay superheroes, certainly," Lee told Newsarama. "But again, I don't see any reason to change the sexual proclivities of a character once they've already been established. I have no problem with creating new, homosexual superheroes."

The Media Research Center's Dan Gainor doesn't believe Marvel and Disney will turn Captain America and Elsa into gay characters.

CBN News spoke with Media Research Center's Dan Gainor about homosexual characters in the media. Click play to watch.

"I don't think they'll comply specifically with those, and I don't think they should," Gainor told CBN News. "Even if you were talking about inclusion, you should be creating new characters, not saying we're going to take existing characters and destroy their backstory."

"Say Captain America, who comes from 1940s America, to turn him into a gay character when he's a traditional American icon -- it's just an offense," he continued.

Gainor advised parents to be aware of the media infiltration.

"Parents really need to understand this is happening in all media, and I mean all media," Gainor said. "That means comic books, young adult books, TV, radio, movies, everything. The superhero shows on TV are very left-wing, often pushing a liberal social agenda."

"So parents -- they need to scope out what's out there before they ever let their kids see it," he continued. "But then they have to also understand that even if it's something they're opposed to, sooner or later their children are going to see it; they have to prepare them for it."
