‘The Lord Gave Me the Idea’: After Chemo, Women’s Friends Give Her a Parade

One 45-year-old got the surprise of her life after she finished her chemo therapy – a surprise her friend says was divinely inspired.

When Amy Kleiner finished her last chemo treatment, she was greeted by a special parade of friends and family in front of her home outside of Cincinatti, Ohio, earlier this month.

She never saw it coming.

“When I opened my garage door and saw everybody I was just completely astonished,” she told TODAY. “The fact that I got to go and hug every single person out there and tell them thank you — I could have stayed out there all day.”

Kleiner’s friend Tera Kiser organized the celebration. Kiser, a neighbor and close friend of Kleiner, has stuck close by her friend since the diagnosis.

Kiser was happy with how it turned out.

“I wanted to have people that care about her hold a balloon and have each person let one go symbolizing her treatments,” she said. “And then I wanted to (have her family) give her the last four so she could let them go herself. It was just beautiful.” Kiser says her inspiration came from God.

“I just felt like the Lord gave me the idea,” she said.

“I know it sounds crazy, but God just gave me this picture of all of us jumping up and down on the day she had her last treatment,” Kiser told InsideEdition.com.

Kiser posted pictures of the celebration on Facebook.

It’s been a long journey for Kleiner. She had a mastectomy on Valentine’s day earlier this year, and after that, radiation treatments.

Kiser spoke highly of Kleiner’s attitude during her treatments.

“I don’t even exaggerate when I say I’ve never heard her complain,” she said. “Creating the event was easy because she’s so easy to love. She just has such a great heart.”

She’s proud to call Kleiner her friend.

“Everyone should have a friend like Amy,” she said. “She’s so selfless, she’s just so easy to love.”
