France reportedly is refusing to lift a ban on a pro-life video that's gone viral because it might change people's minds about abortion.

The controversy first erupted two years ago when a Down syndrome advocacy group produced a video called "Dear Future Mom."

In the video, children with Down syndrome send a powerful message to anxious mothers whose unborn babies were diagnosed with the disorder.

"Dear future mom, don't be afraid. Your child will do many things. He'll be able to hug you. He'll be able to run toward you. He'll be able to speak and tell you he loves you," they say in the film.

French government officials called the video inappropriate and banned it from airing on television.

But pro-life advocates believe this is just the message France needs. Nearly 90 percent of babies diagnosed prenatally with Down syndrome in France are aborted.

Despite numerous petitions, the government continues to ban the video.
