Nigerian Troops Rescue Chibok Girl and Baby

Nigerian troops rescued one of the kidnapped Chibok schoolgirls and her baby from the hands of Boko Haram terrorists.

This is the first army rescue since Islamic terrorists kidnapped hundreds of girls from their school two years ago. While some girls have gone home, there are still hundreds missing. Many of the girls were forced to convert to Islam and have children with their captors.

Nigerian forces found the girl and her 10-month-old baby boy Saturday morning during a raid on a forest hideout.

The news gives a little hope to many Nigerian parents still wondering when and if their daughters will come home.

Last month, Nigeria's government secured the release of 21 Chibok schoolgirls. It was the first negotiated release since their kidnapping. Another girl was able to escape on her own in May.

President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed to secure the release of the nearly 200 schoolgirls who remain captive.

Meanwhile, Boko Haram continues to spread terror across the region. Some 20,000 people have been killed in Boko Haram's seven-year Islamic uprising that has spread across borders and forced 2.6 million refugees from their homes.
