Weight Loss and Surrender

After a week of celebrating my birthday, a weight gain of 3 pounds and a birthday picture that had me thinking that I look pretty good for my age, I was ready to shut down this blog and give up on the whole weight loss thing. Then I heard God’s voice.

“Is it really your choice?”

That’s the question that popped into my head.

I was 15 years old when I asked Jesus to take over my life. If my life is not my own, then every decision, including whether or not I continue trying to get fit, is a matter of, “not my will but His.”

I was then reminded of a scripture found in the book of Romans. Verse 1 of chapter 12 says, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual [ Or reasonable] act of worship.” (NIV)

As if that weren’t enough, I turned on the TV and Joel Osteen, Senior Pastor of Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas was on. He was preaching on why getting healthy is so important.

Sometimes God speaks in a still small voice and sometimes He shouts!

So, I’m back on track with my weight loss program. And the fresh start comes with a new perspective. Getting in shape is God’s idea, not mine. And if it’s His idea, I know I can count on His help.
