Memo to the Bush Administration

In some of my recent blogs, I've discussed the Bush administration's apparent ignorance to the often unsavory teachings and history of Islam. Today, Diana West of The Washington Times weighs in on the topic with one of the best op-eds I've read in some time. Here's a brief sampling:

Why has it become the post-September 11 function of the U.S. government to celebrate Ramadan? The buzzword of "Muslim outreach" comes to mind, but, as the Judeo-Christian culture hit by Islamikazes on September 11, haven't we got it exactly backward? That is, wouldn't Muslims better outreach themselves if the Saudi Embassy, for example, celebrated Christmas and Hanukah?

After all, George W. Bush and Condoleezza Rice aren't breaking the fast with Jews on Yom Kippur, supping with Hindus on Diwali, or cavorting with Druids on the Winter Solstice. And they certainly aren't feting official Christendom on Christmas Day - and no, the children's Easter Egg roll doesn't compare.

Read it all. And while you're at it, check out this disturbing piece about the ongoing Muslim riots in France. By the way, although they've been virtually ignored by the media, there have also been Muslim-led riots taking place in Denmark this past week. The barbarians are clearly at the gates in Europe. Memo to the Bush administration: Ramadan dinners and Muslim outreaches won't do a thing to deter them.
