NBC's "Christian Terrorist" Fiasco
I know the following statement is probably difficult for many to accept, particularly in our ultra-political correct modern society. And I wish I didn't have to write it. But it's an indisputable fact that the overwhelming majority of terrorist acts over the past 25 years have been committed by Muslims acting in the name of Islam. Whether the terrorists' violent interpretation of the Koran is the correct one has been debated endlessly since 9/11; although, in my humble opinion, Koran verses like "Slay the infidels wherever ye find them" and "do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends" are pretty self-explanatory.
Now, ask yourself this: when was the last time you saw a Bible-quoting Christian acting in the name of Jesus carry out terrorist attacks on innocent civilians? I can already guess my Muslim readers' retort, so I will head them off at the pass: yes, I know that Timothy McVeigh and Adolf Hitler were raised in Christian households. But here's the thing: neither man was a practicing Christian, and their heinous acts had no religious motive whatsoever behind them (which, of course, doesn't make them any less evil or reprehensible). Likewise, the FARC rebels in Colombia and the Irish Republican Army are certainly terrorists--but they don't claim to be acting in the name of Christ. On the other hand, al-Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah, Abu-Sayyaf, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Jemaa Islamiyya, and the world's countless other Islamic terrorist groups all consist primarily of devoted Muslims motivated by religious zealotry.
Which brings me to last night's episode of "E-Ring," an NBC program starring Benjamin Bratt and Dennis Hopper that features Pentagon and Army operatives involved in Special Operations to save Americans. And who do Americans need saving from, in the middle of this ongoing war against radical Islam? Why, you guessed it: Christians. That's right. Radical Christian terrorists are preying on innocent Muslims around the world, burning down mosques and forcing them to accept Christ at gunpoint. Haven't you heard? Me neither. But apparently some of NBC's left-wing, PC-obsessed screenwriters got together and decided that such a phenomenon exists. Remember, Hollywood's stance is that Muslims and Islam cannot be criticized under any circumstances, and that Islam must always be portrayed as a peaceful, benevolent religion. Even though, as I write this, Muslims are engaged in violent insurrections and terrorist madness in virtually every corner of the globe. But Christianity? Now, that's the true enemy. Here's a brief description of the despicable "E-Ring" episode in question:
Delta Does Detroit 8pm 2005-11-16 ALL NEW! JT and his team face terrorism on our own soil.
JT (Benjamin Bratt) and a Special Ops team are dispatched to Detroit where a radical Christian group takes over a mosque and keeps its members hostage. JT must balance how much he is able to assist in saving lives with the law which requires that the FBI deal with the situation on their own. Also starring Dennis Hopper, Aunjanue Ellis, Kelly Rutherford.
Throwing up yet? Here's more, from Debbie Schlussel:
"E-Ring" showed a gang of Christian thugs (is there such a thing?) capturing a Detroit area mosque, killing mosque members, and trying to blow the place up. Like that ever happened--or would. (The Christians also murder FBI agents who are surveilling the mosque, as if the FBI in Detroit is actually monitoring, instead of kowtowing to, extremist mosques. It isn't.)
Frankly, this episode of "E-Ring" is so far removed from current world headlines--not to mention, in fact--that it's hard to believe it even made the air. Then again, we are talking about NBC, a bastion of politically correct liberalism. Hey NBC, here's a news flash: while you'd be hard-pressed to find any current news items about Christians persecuting Muslims, you'll find plenty detailing Islamist violence against Christians. Why, there's Pakistan, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, just to name a few recent examples. No wonder "E-Ring's" ratings are in the toilet: the American people want honesty and reality, not left-wing, anti-Christian fantasy.
