CBNNews.com - Thursday is the deadline for six televangelists to turn over their financial records to the U.S. Senate.
Congress is investigating if these minister's compensation and expenditures jeopardize their non-profit status.
Joyce Meyer has indicated she'll comply, but others may not, and they are using the First Amendment for their defense.
And now the National Religious Broadcasters is stepping in, saying the probe may be unconstitutional.
NRB president and CEO Frank Wright wrote a letter this week to Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley, who is leading the investigation, saying this issue is for the Internal Revenue Service, not Congress.
CBN News spoke with Wright about this case on Newswatch.
