Cheri Adams

Dolce Vita Entertainment

CBN.comGrowing up in Johnston Rhode Island, Cherie Adams never imagined living any place else. In a close Italian family the oldest daughter would never think of leaving her hometown unless of course she was called by God to do something different. While visiting relatives in Tifton, GA, and visiting their church, Cherie's cousin
asked her to sing a song for the congregation. Unrehearsed and without hesitation she sang for the Lord.

She's been singing since she was 5 years old. "Singing in church has always come naturally for me I was never afraid to sing because I knew I was singing to Jesus. I used to imagine Him sitting on the front row and I always knew He was listening." She remembers many trips to this quiet little town but this trip changed her life forever.

After returning from Georgia she received a call from a man who sang in a Christian group and he asked her to move to Nashville. She accepted his offer and began singing in churches and convention halls traveling all over the world, including a mission trip to Africa. Cherie knew she had made the right decision to leave home and
pursue her dream.

In June of 1998 Cherie was asked to be one of the voices of the Christian music group Avalon. She didn't have a demo tape and wasn't pursuing a record deal. When she had returned from a trip one day she had received several calls regarding the position in Avalon and knew it was worth pursuing. "I literally got into Avalon over a cup of coffee with their manager." She recalls. "She listened to a few seconds of my voice and sent me straight to the Label. She knew I was the right fit for the group. It was totally God just opening the door to another chapter in my life."

An American Music Award, two Dove awards, two gold records and two Grammy nominations Cherie has had quite an experience with this group. "The Glory" Cherie's duet on the album Oxygen made Christian radio history when it became the first radio single ever to achieve 41 adds from all 41 reporting radio stations during it's debut week. It was #1 for 4 weeks in a row along with another unbelievable hit "Undeniably You" which was #1 for 4 weeks also. While with Avalon, Cherie had the opportunity to perform with several wellknown secular artists such as Aaron Neville and Martina McBride. When Cherie was asked what she thought of all these statistics, she said, "It's really rewarding to have these things under my belt but the excitement of these things are temporary. When I see people being touched by the lyrics of the songs, when I see lives changed and when the broken hearted come to Jesus; those are the statistics that I'm most proud of, those are the things that matter to the Lord."

With 10 #1 hits from In a Different Light and Oxygen several performances on the Dove Awards and mission trips to El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Brazil, Cherie decided to leave Avalon and once again move on to the next chapter in her ministry. She thoroughly enjoyed touring with Avalon but felt like it was time for a change. She is currently singing and sharing her testimony in churches with hopes to further expand her ministry. "I have such a soft spot for people who are broken, because I was broken. There was a time when I didn't think I could live another day. The Lord changed that for me if He could change my life he can do the same for you. I want people who do not know the Lord to come to know Him in a tangible way. He is faithful to reveal Himself to
those who really seek Him. This is my mission; this is what I've been called to do."
