Rend Collective Experiment

Kingsway

CBN.com What can you say about Rend Collective Experiment? Well, quite a lot, so it happens. There's a lot of chat about this new worship group from Northern Ireland, and whenever you tune in to the buzz there are some pretty familiar words that keep on appearing: fresh, inspirational, mindblowingly-good.

Rend like to do things differently. It's a part of their charm - and a key ingredient in the feast that they serve up to a hungry audience. So, because they look, sound and play like no band you've ever seen up front at church before, we're going to hand over the mic to them and allow Rend to introduce themselves.

'Usually you get press releases fired at you with just a few minutes to blink at the screen before you head off to check the weather or floss your teeth. We're going to do things a little differently for you, just to spice up your life.'

We are Rend Collective Experiment and on the 18th January 2010 we released our debut album with Survivor Records. It's called The Organic Family Hymnal and it is good!''

We are a collective of people like a family and not just a band. We want our music to be what we call Organic worship, an honest and natural connection with God, something which is authentic and not artificial. We want to create an environment for people to have genuine encounters with Him and to find themselves singing to Him in ways that they find real.'

Amos 5 says "away with the noise of your songs and let justice roll like a river'. That's a key verse for us because we believe God's call on our lives is to worship Him and serve the world."

Rend Collective Experiment started in 2004 as a group of confused twentysomethings trying to figure out life, God, community and kingdom living. The band came from that - we started writing songs that made sense to us. The worship, the questions, the community: they were all connected and we were journeying towards a solution together.''

Where are we from? Bangor, Northern Ireland and this is where you're going to have to listen to a bit of a history lesson. Back in the sixth century the Abbey was founded. That one building trained and sent out an army of missionaries that changed the face of Christianity across the whole of Europe. And at that missionary training ground they also prayed every hour for a hundred years. That has impacted our town and has left it with spiritual roots that grow very deep and affect every one of us.'

We're a collective and we want you to be a part of it so welcome to the family.

Adrian Thompson, A&R Manager for Survivor Records says: "You've got to hear this band. What they've done with worship is what people like Rob Bell or Francis Chan have done with sermons. Taking down all the scaffolding and stuff that we've built up around it over the years and giving us something fresh to join in with. You've got to hear this band."
