Dove Award Winning New Artist The Afters Celebrate Top Downloaded Digital Song
Band Hits The Studio To Record Highly Anticipated Sophomore Album

– NASHVILLE, TN...January 11, 2007...As a result of the mass appeal for The Afters’ (INO/Simple/Columbia Records) hit song “Beautiful Love,” Nielson Soundscan has named the song as the top downloaded song on the inspirational chart for 2006. This song resounded with audiences as it also received RIAA Gold Certification for Digital Sales in 2006. On the heels of this news and following a successful tour with tobyMac’s Winter WonderSlam, which placed the band in front of more than 30,000 fans, The Afters prepare for their sophomore effort set to release in the fall of this year.
Once again working with award winning producers Brown Bannister and Dan Muckala, The Afters are excited about the outlook for the band in 2007.
“The songs are some of the best we've ever written. We're working with great producers, and we have the support of a great label...what more could a band ask for,” shares lead vocalist Josh Havens. “We're working hard on the new music and taking our time to get it perfect for our fans. We're committed to making the very best album that we can, and I think it will be worth the wait.”
Last spring, “Beautiful Love” was the theme song for MTV’s reality series 8th & Ocean, which spawned the single selling more than 90,000 digital tracks in a six-week period and over 189,000 in 2006. In addition, the song made its home on four major charts landing on the iTunes Top 100 Downloaded Songs for more than nine weeks peaking at No. 14, Billboard Hot 100 chart (peaked at No. 55), the Billboard Pop 100 (No. 43), and topping at No. 23 on the Billboard Hot Digital Songs.
Releasing their debut project I Wish We All Could Win in 2005, The Afters received top attention from their fans and media outlets. The Afters’ music has appeared on the networks of MTV, mtvU, ABC Family, and E! News as well as on HOT AC and VH-1 radio along with outlets such as Billboard, BOP and Popstar. “Beautiful Love” is not the only song from the debut album receiving national attention, as the track “Until the World” has been the theme song for the ABC Family series “Beautiful People” for two seasons. The MTV college network, mtvU, has been a strong supporter of the band as their music video for “Beautiful Love” was awarded with an mtvU Award for Best Streaming Video in 2005. The Christian media have also adopted this foursome as CCM magazine selected I Wish We All Could Win for the Editor’s Top 10 Albums of 2005, and Relevant featured the band as a Spotlight Artist. In addition, The Afters’ earned their first No. 1 R&R Christian CHR single with the Dove nominated, hit song “Beautiful Love.” The Afters were awarded the Dove Award for “New Artist of the Year” (2006).
